Comment: quick and simple recipe, an ideal accompaniment to meat or fish dishes. If possible, do not use too old turnips. I cut them into sticks of 8 to 10 mm side.

600+ g turnips
1 good pinch of sugar
40 g butter
Cut the turnips into sticks of 8 to 10 mm sides (see text).
In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat and cook the turnips for a few minutes, stirring.
Add the sugar, a pinch of salt.
Add water which should just cover the turnips.
Cook over medium heat (simmer), uncovered, for ~10 to 15 minutes until all the liquid has evaporated.
Stir occasionally, especially towards the end so the turnips don't burn.
